Event Recap: UF Dance Marathon

As the year comes to a close, lots of big events are finally coming to a close! UF Dance Marathon was this past weekend and I would love to take a moment to appreciate all the SWEeties that made our DM team as successful as could be.

SWE raised $990! Thanks to our fundraising efforts like the T-shirt raffle for the SWE DM page and of course, the Chick-Fil-A night! Thanks to these SWEeties who came out and ate some yummy CFA for a great cause!

Our Dance Marathon chair, Kalia Martin was the sole dancer for SWE. She represented us among the hundreds of other participants. Go Kalia! Here are her thoughts about the experience.

"I had fun. The event was kinda hectic but I made the most out of it and met fellow dancers. We had a fundraising hour to raise $5,000 and we surpassed it in 30 min raising $10,000. There was a silent disco and we learned the dance marathon line dance each hour. We also heard from the miracles families (families of children at Shands) each hour when they would tell their story and how Dance Marathon has impacted them personally. That was my favorite part. It was really emotional but inspiring to hear that your action was making a real difference. This was my first time attending dm at UF because it was cancelled last year but I have been part of dm since my junior year of high school."

Thank you Kalia for organizing such an amazing effort! Below are some her pictures from the the awesome event. Hopefully next year we will see some more SWEeties on the dance floor!
